Corporate Newsletter: Hip Hing Construction Interview Series

Bilingual Interview Stories for Hip Hing Voice

Hip Hing Construction stands as one of Hong Kong’s most established main contractors. With six decades of history, the company remains a vibrant and forward‑moving force behind many of the city’s most defining structures—from the historic Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) to contemporary landmarks like The Henderson by Zaha Hadid Architects and the Kai Tak Sports Park.

To deepen engagement with industry peers and business partners, Hip Hing created Hip Hing Voice, a publication designed to foster meaningful dialogue across the construction ecosystem. The magazine is engaging even for readers beyond the profession, offering stories that are both insightful and enjoyable to read. We were honoured to interview Hip Hing’s project managers—the minds behind these transformative works—along with their trusted collaborators.

Space & Human

Hong Kong is a dynamic, ever‑evolving city, yet one principle endures in its architecture: every design must serve people.

In Hip Hing Voice, we spoke with CLC’s architect, Professor William Tam, and ARVA’s Principal about the construction Community Liaison Centre in Cha Kwo Ling. He revealed how thoughtful design can integrate with a historic neighbourhood, offering villagers a welcoming space for social gatherings, cultural exchange, and community life. The magazine brings a refreshing spotlight to these human‑centred community projects.

Capability to Design and Build

Through these interviews, we gained deeper insight into Hip Hing’s long‑standing culture of collaboration.

One of the company’s most significant undertakings—the Kai Tak Sports Park—faced extraordinary challenges, from the pandemic to the massive logistics of transporting materials. Mr. Ken Leung, Assistant General Manager (Sub‑Contracts), shared how close coordination across departments and with subcontractors was essential to delivering this design‑and‑build project. His stories highlighted Hip Hing’s distinctive “willingness to negotiate” culture, which strengthens relationships and ensures smooth, solution‑driven teamwork.

Our Part

Having worked with Hip Hing Construction for years, we are always delighted to speak with industry insiders and explore the architecture that shapes Hong Kong’s vibrant identity.

Each project invites us into a new world. We dive deep into research, collaborate closely with the corporate communications team, and adapt our writing style to reflect the distinct character of every story. We learn with curiosity—almost like children—and cherish the opportunity to bring these professional insights to readers who rarely encounter them firsthand.
